This adventure spans two days and three nights, beginning in the Y Ty area of Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province. Although the total distance is approximately 14 kilometers along mountainous trails, the paths are relatively straightforward, winding through forests and gentle grassy hills.
Overnight accommodation will be at an altitude of 2,600 meters, where you’ll enjoy a spectacular sea of clouds and, at night, the awe-inspiring sight of the Milky Way. Throughout the trek, participants will experience the raw, untouched beauty of Vietnam’s Northwest region.

Day 0: Hanoi to Sapa
At 9:30 PM, a sleeper bus will pick you up at 5 Tran Nguyen Han in Hanoi and head toward Sapa in Lao Cai province.
The travel time to Sapa is approximately six hours. Upon arrival, the bus will drop you off at 436 Điện Biên Phủ Street in Sapa.
Day 1: Sapa – Y Ty – Rest Shack
5:00 AM: Depart the Sapa bus station to begin your journey. You are encouraged to walk to our office at 09 Thac Bac Road, Sapa, for about 15-20 minutes to enjoy the local atmosphere.
7:30 AM: The group will board a vehicle for a three-hour journey to the trek’s starting point at Phin Ho—Y Ty, located about 80 kilometers from Sapa. During the drive, you’ll pass stunning scenery, including gorges, valleys, and terraced fields cultivated by the H’Mong and Ha Nhi ethnic communities.
10:30 AM: Upon arrival at the trekking starting point, the tour leader will distribute essential supplies such as water, gloves, raincoats, and energy snacks. Then, the group will begin the trek up Lao Than Mountain, stopping for lunch. A short break of around 20 minutes will be taken before continuing toward the campsite.
5:00 PM: The group will reach the rest shack approximately 1.5 hours from the summit. You’ll spend the night in a traditionally built ethnic shack equipped with blankets, toilet facilities, and washing areas.
Trekking Details: The trek will take 5 to 6 hours. The path includes steep slopes and some streams that may become slippery, especially during the rainy season. The rest of the shack is 2,600 meters, offering a scenic view of the surrounding mountains.
Day 2: Rest – Sapa – Return to Hanoi
4:00 AM: Start your day early with breakfast before setting out for the summit leaving your belongings at the shack. The hike from the shack to the peak takes approximately two hours.
6:30 AM: Reach the top of Lao Than and take in the stunning panoramic views. Feel free to take photos, cheer, or soak in the breathtaking surroundings. Afterward, head back down to the shack.
8:20 AM: Return to the shack, gather your belongings, and begin the descent back to the trekking starting point via the same route.
12:30 PM: After arriving at the starting point in Phin Ho – Y Ty, enjoy a well-deserved lunch before boarding the bus back to Sapa.
4:30 PM: Arrive back in Sapa, where you can shower and relax.
7:00 PM: Enjoy dinner on your own.
10:00 PM: Head to the bus station at 426 Điện Biên Phủ Street, Sapa, or take a taxi to catch your sleeper bus back to Hanoi. This concludes your Lao Than trekking adventure.
