Day 1: Sa Pa – Hang Da – Hau Thao Trek (15km ~ 5.5 hours)
At 9 a.m, our guide will meet you at your hotel in Sapa or in front of Sapa’s main church.
After a brief introduction, we’ll start with a 1km uphill trek on a narrow trail leading to a viewpoint where you can admire the majestic Fansipan mountain, the highest peak in Indochina, and panoramic views of Sapa town.
From this vantage point, you’ll also behold the renowned rice terraces of Vietnam in the Muong Hoa valley, alongside the prominent river and valley of Sapa.
Continuing our journey, we’ll descend along the mountainside to Hang Da, a village inhabited by the Black Hmong minority. Along the way, we’ll watch for local animals such as buffalo, pigs, and chickens. We’ll pause for lunch at a cozy eatery operated by a local family.
After lunch, we’ll follow a gentle path to Hau Thao, another village of the Black Hmong ethnic group. Here, you’ll witness the daily life of the locals, and if the timing is right, you might catch them engaged in agricultural activities such as rice harvesting or planting.
Upon arrival in Hau Thao, a warm reception awaits you at a homestay hosted by a Black Hmong family. Take this time to relax, enjoy a hot shower, and anticipate a delightful dinner.
Day 2: Hau Thao – Su Pan – Ban Lech (Tiger Mountain) – Thanh Kim – Sapa (15km: Off the Beaten Path)
When you awaken the following day, you’ll open your window to watch clouds drifting through the valley as the sun rises over the mountains.
Following a delightful breakfast at the homestay, we embark on the day’s trek. Our journey commences from the homestay towards Su Pan, a charming village nestled amidst the mountains inhabited by the Black Hmong people. Here, you’ll capture breathtaking photos of expansive rice fields and witness locals living in traditional houses, immersed in their natural way of life.
Continuing our adventure, we’ll traverse a narrow jungle path leading to Ban Lech Hmong village. From this vantage point, at 1,500 meters above sea level, you’ll marvel at the stunning panorama of Muong Hoa Valley stretching towards Sapa town. Known locally as Tiger Mountain, this hill earned its name from its historical inhabitants, the tigers, a fact our guide will share more about.
Descending further, we arrive at Lech Dao, home to the Red Dao ethnic minority, renowned for their herbal medicine expertise and use of native plants to treat various ailments.
